Job Description


A swiftly-growing solar power equipment start-up located in the North San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a motivated Quality Control Manager to join their team. The company is designing and manufacturing cutting-edge PV ground mount systems for the utility-scale solar industry. Among the senior leadership and founders of this firm are former members of the product development from some of the biggest names in the industry. This is an opportunity for a skilled manufacturing Quality Control Manager to join a team on the forefront of the renewable energy revolution.

Qualified candidates will have experience with establishing, improving, and enforcing quality requirements for new products and will be capable of thriving in an environment where they have the freedom to help build out the companies’ QAQC program. A degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or related) is strongly preferred and knowledge of quality control for “ low carbon” steel products is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Setting and enforcing quality requirements for products
  • Creating internal quality procedures
  • Creating and managing Vendor quality program
  • Work with engineering to determine reliability tests
  • Manage First Article inspections
  • Manage part traceability
  • Create and manage CAPA system
  • Sign off on production lots
  • Creation and management of NCP system
  • Management of inspection device calibration program
  • Represent Quality Department in customer facing meetings and calls
  • Occasional ravel for inspections of vendor facilities overseas and domestically to ensure quality expectations are being maintained

Requirements:
  • A Bachelor' s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or related field (may be substituted for relevant experience)
  • Previous experience in product manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control procedures and legal standards.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics, data analysis, and statistical methods.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Good technical and IT skills.
  • Knowledge of structural steel or building supplies is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of “ low-carbon” steel is a plus but not required
