Job Description

We have an immediate opening for an Applications Engineer for a manufacturer and distributor of state-of-the-art Laser machinery. As an  Applications Engineer, you will work with customers to enhance their production  by utilizing product analysis and demonstrations. In collaboration with sales they will prepare and carry out marketing efforts for the purpose of securing business from prospective customers. On a day to day basis the Applications Engineer will analyze and develop manufacturing processes, determine best training methodologies for customers and build demonstration techniques in an effort to improve/enhance the performance of industrial machinery. This position is with a name-brand, top-end manufacturer with a strong reputation and excellent employee retention. 

  • Develop and analyze customer needs and prepare demonstrations and reports for pre-sales activities for sales and potential and current customers.
  • Provide high power processing training to customers with the overall intention of instructing and/or recommending methods that will improve and/or enhance the performance of the machinery and optimize its usage for their particular needs.
  • Review, evaluate, and resolve machine maintenance and applications-related problems at customer sites with the overall intention of improving and enhancing the performance of the customer’ s milling machinery.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment to evaluate, diagnose, and provide timely, appropriate responses and resolutions to customer reports
  • Increase sales and revenue by identifying customer opportunities for sales.
  • Collaborate with applications personnel to develop and implement marketing strategies.
  • Create solutions for customers in addressing machine maintenance and applications-related problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to operate, program, and troubleshoot laser machinery.
  • High level of customer service.
  • CNC programming skills.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to customers, trade shows, events.
  • Associates degree in Manufacturing Technology or equivalent.
  • 5 Year’ s minimum experience in a pre-sales position in machinery or manufacturing.
  • 5 Years’ experience operating, programming, or repairing laser machinery.
